JEW BASHERS
JEW BASHERS
Einstein on this very subject:
"If my theory of
relativity is proven correct, Germany will claim me as a German and France will
declare that I am a citizen of the world. Should my theory prove untrue, France
will say that I am a German and Germany will declare that I am a Jew".
The Jews
are the only people in the world who have found hostility in every country in
which they settled in any numbers. Throughout history people have accused the Jews of the most
outrageous, unbelievable things – from causing the plague and other scourges,
to present day Holocaust deniers. In
spite of the fact that the Holocaust was the best documented account of
genocide in the world ever written.
Deborah Lipstadt a
history professor was asked to write a book on Holocaust deniers. She maintains
that for deniers to be right all “others” have to be wrong. The
“others” are the victims, the survivors; bystanders, such as the Poles who lived around the death camps and watched,
day-after-day, the trains leaving full of their Jewish neighbours - coming back
empty. Last, but not least, the perpetrators. The numerous perpetrators of
every nationality never denied what they
did - some tried to justify their actions by saying they were ordered,
or forced. They never once said that it didn’t happen.
The question remains
how do they manage to get people to believe? The deniers can be compared to the
Nazis, neo-Nazis and other bigots (without the trappings). If one digs a little
way below the surface of their “claims” one finds anti-semitism, racism,
prejudice, etc. parading as rational discourse. Discourse consists of facts,
opinions and lies. Lies can be dressed
up as opinions, which is how David Irving wrote a book to prove that the
Holocaust never took place. He used his opinions and twisted them to “prove” they were facts.
Professor Lipstadt followed
Irving’s “facts” back to their sources and
found evidence which disproved every single one of them, accusing Irving of
being a blatant Holocaust denier. U.K. Penguin books sent her a libel claim
brought by Irving. According to U.K. law, the onus of a libel action is on the
accused, not on the accuser, so she was forced to go on trial. She was fully
vindicated. The judge charged Irving to be a liar, racist, anti-semitic,
distorter of the truth. What made it so despicable was that he did it
deliberately.
Certain facts and
truths are indisputable but in today’s enlightened liberal thought everything
is open to debate. Social media, with all its advantages, allows facts and lies to be part of rational
discourse. Is there no place for
objective truth? We live in an age where truth is on the defensive. What can we
do?
1.
We cannot be beguiled by rational appearances.
2.
We must understand that truth is not relative.
3.
We must go on the
offensive not the defensive. Outrageous claims made by people, even if they occupy
the highest offices, must be questioned and proved.
As professor Lipstadt said: “The job ahead of
us is great. We must act now. Later will be too late”.
