If Israel had not been in existence,  today’s  world would be lacking in so many things which people take for granted.  Despite being only 72 years old, a country the size of New Jersey has produced hundreds of tech developments - from everyday items like WAZE - to futuristic medical devices. To name just a few:

A prime example, called ExBlate is a non-invasive, magnetic ultrasound surgery system that thermally destroys tumours inside the body. The device has huge potential to address a wide variety of medical problems, including many diseases that currently have no treatment.

Other Israeli start-ups which can literally save lives, one disease at a time, include:

  •   An automatic device for early detection and prevention of acute kidney injury.       
  •     
  • The detection of early-stage lung cancer through a minimally invasive procedure      navigating the affected organ.
  •        
  • An alpha-emitting radiation therapy that attacks breast cancer, head and neck  cancer, skin cancer and pancreatic cancer - while sparing healthy tissues.

  • A technology which triggers the body’s immune system to fight cancer cells, in minimally invasive procedures, without harming surrounding tissue.

  • A pill to treat insulin resistance in Type 2 diabetes, by restoring blood glucose levels and suppressing systemic inflammation.
Already up and running is the PillCam, the gold standard for intestinal visualization and sold in more than 60 countries around the world.

Another Israeli medical innovation, which already works in five continents, is a device that identifies potential strokes in the brain during head CTA scans.

An Israeli-American company has devised a “breakthrough” option for blood cancer patients in need of a bone marrow transplant. Already has FDA approval.

 Laboratories all over the world are desperately looking for ways to combat the deadly complications caused by the novel coronavirus. This is a traumatic time for the whole world, anxiety and uncertainty of the future…..

  The “Israeli Defense Forces”   is the only army in the world to be named as such. Since its inception, it has never been Israel’s intention   to be the aggressor or to start a war.   Israel is not looking to enlarge its territory, to become an Empire, or to make converts.   There are 56 Islamic countries, 125 predominantly Christian countries - how dare the Jews claim the right to have a country of   their own, and such a big one! GRANDMA'S ARMY AT WAR

  Six-and-a-haIf years ago I began to write a blog “Grandma’s Army”, as I had seven grandchildren serving in the army at the same time.   Little did I dream that today, that number would jump to seven + ten, Apart from two in the regular army, all the rest are in the Reserves. Both of my sons, who are over 60 years-old, are in army uniform again. They have volunteered to drive army trucks for transport purposes all over the country, after taking a special driving course. Since I began this blog, Azriel and his wife have returned to live in their home on the moshav. They had been evacuated since the beginning of the war, since their home is in the “Gaza envelope”.
